Anxiety heightened again all over the country on Monday over the true state of the health of President Umaru Yar’Adua.
An unconfirmed report by the American Chronicle, an online news portal, claimed that the President had died since December 10. It claimed that information about his death was kept away from Nigerians by his family and members of his kitchen cabinet.

Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday held a closed door meeting with the Minister of Defence , Maj.-Gen. Godwin Abbe (rtd.), over the reported resumption of attacks on oil installations by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta.

| Bankole Defends Foreign Trips |
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, has defended his globetrotting since he came to power, saying that the nation had benefited more than what was committed to the trips.
According to him, he had been able to attract investments worth over $1billion into the economy.
Responding to inquest by reporters at an interactive session that N52billion had been committed to tours between 2007 and 2009, Bankole said that the money was not a waste when converting the $1billion to Naira. Read more... |
