| Exco ‘Re-Arrangement’ Proposal: Ogun PDP Faults Bankole |
 |
The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State on Monday condemned the Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole‘s call for the re-arrangement of the party‘s executive committee in the state.
However, Bankole, in his response, said he was part of the solution, rather than the problem.
The PDP Director of Organisation, Mr. Deji Kalejaiye, while addressing the party‘s faithful in Abeokuta, described the Speaker‘s call as ”anti-party”, aimed at destabilising the party in Ogun State.
He said, ”I expect the honourable speaker to explain himself, I mean the motive behind such an unguarded comment. This question of re-arranging the party exco do not exist in |
Ogun State.‘‘
”Such plan only exists in the imagination of Bankole. Without mincing words, the Speaker is part of the misunderstanding in the state. He is the number four citizen and he should watch his utterances.”
Kalejaiye also accused the Speaker of undermining the state’s PDP.
”Dimeji Bankole has never patronised the party since he became the Speaker. There are several times he will come to Abeokuta without visiting the party secretariat; the platform through which he got to his present position as Nigeria’s number four citizen,” the Director of Publicity said.
It will be recalled that Bankole, while addressing PDP members on Saturday, during a visit to the Ago-Iwoye country home of a former Minister of State for Finance, Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye, called for a restructuring of the party‘s executive council in the state.
Reacting, Special Adviser to Bankole on Media, Mr. Ebomhiana Musa, said Bankole was the solution, rather than the problem.
He said, “As the head of the PDP family in Ogun State and the South-West and as a responsible head of a family, Bankole will not want to see his household in disarray and in tatters.
“Rather, he is doing everything possible to keep the house together; a family that will be the envy of others. Those accusing him are those who do not mean well for the party in the state. Having climbed to the roof top, they now want to destroy the ladder they used to get there. This is what Bankole is resisting.”
